Commissioner: 'Make Peel a city'

Could Peel get an economic boost by becoming the Island’s first official city?

For years, it’s been known as the sunset city because of St German’s cathedral – but that definition of a city ended in 1907.

In the UK, cities are either established because they’ve always been known as cities historically, or receive letters patent from the Queen.

Peel commissioner Ray Harmer says getting official city status could bring instant results to the town’s regeneration:
