The Met Office’s look back over the last month show just how bad snowfall and the big freeze were.
Weathermen at Ronaldsway say March 22 was the second-worst March day for snow and rain on record – you have to go back to 1947 to find a worse day.
Mean air temperatures were just 3.8°C, the third coldest March on record after 1962 and 1969, and there were 18 days of ground frost, the highest number since 1962.
But mixed in with snow and wind were 112 hours of bright sunshine, which the Met Office says is only slightly below the March average.
