Severe weather a setback for MER

The mountain railway is to stay closed until May after last month's bad weather wrecked havoc.

Heavy snow and strong winds brought down over-head lines and triggered landslips on sections of the Snaefell line. 

It was hoped the mountain railway would be operational for Easter but this has been put back until repairs are carried out.

The MER's chief engineer for public transport Peter Maddox says reaching the areas worst hit is still proving difficult:
