Householders warned of faulty fridge freezers

by isleofman.com 6th April 2013

The Office of Fair Trading on the Island are warning householders about a batch of faulty fridge freezers.

The Frost free Hoover appliances were all manufactured between August 2011 and August 2012.

A potential problem has been identified with the defrost heater element supplied to Hoover and overheating could occur which in certain circumstances could result in a fire.

Six different models are affected by the fault. Anyone who thinks they may have one is asked to check the model number on the plate found behind the salad crisper drawer.

This can then be entered on the website hoover.co.uk/safety-notice/ together with the product code and date code also found on the plate so see if your particular freezer is affected.

You can also call the Hoover service team on freephone 08081 780 516. If you DO have a faulty model you should turn it off and not use it until you have contacted the company to arrange for a free of charge modification by a Hoover service technician.
