Custodians of the Island's 150 war memorials are being asked to make sure they are in good repair for the centenary of the start of World War One next year.

Chairman of the preservation of War Memorials Committee, Home Affairs Minister Juan Watterson, says they are a reminder of the sacrifices made by our forefathers.

Mr Watterson says it's a good chance for authorities to inspect the many memorials around the Island.
