Success for Manx choir at Pan Celtic Festival

by isleofman.com 7th April 2013

Manx choir Caarjyn Cooidjagh have had great success at the Pan-Celtic Festival in Carlow this weekend.

They won two out of three choral classes, beating top choirs from Wales, Ireland, Scotland and Brittany.

The choir's success yesterday (Sat) followed Manx victory earlier in the week when Marlene Hendy won the traditional solo class with a performance of Manx Gaelic songs.

Musical director, composer and arranger of Caarjyn Cooidjagh's repertoire, Annie Kissack, says she's delighted with the success as the competition was of a very high standard - and the Caarjyn's don't' usually enter such festivals.

She says the success firmly places Manx traditional music on the Celtic map.
