Work together to protect greenways

by isleofman.com 8th April 2013

Different groups who use the Island's greenways should work together to ensure their future maintenance.

That's the belief of the Secretary of the Manx Horse Council, Walter Gilbey.

The routes are due to open on May 1 after their winter closure but there is considerable concern among many parties about their condition.

Many groups, including walkers, off-road bikers, 4x4 drivers and horse-riders use the lanes and some believe the use of motor vehicles is one of the causes of the damage.

Speaking on Sunday Opinion on Manx Radio, Mr Gilbey said instead of arguing, all those with a vested interest in the future of the green lanes should work together for their mutual benefit.
