The next Films in Peel screening at the Centenary Centre is multi-award winning historical thriller Argo (cert 15) on 10 April. Tickets are on sale now at Celtic Gold.
This Oscar and BAFTA winning film is a dramatisation of the 1980 joint CIA-Canadian secret operation to extract six fugitive American diplomatic personnel out of revolutionary Iran. This is a gripping thriller based on a declassified true story, with some Hollywood humour and clever editing. It is directed by and stars Ben Affleck. It also stars John Goodman, Alan Arkin and Bryan Cranston. Definitely one not to miss! Runtime is 120 mins. The film starts at 7.45pm and doors open 7pm. Refreshments available. Tickets cost ?5 from Celtic Gold or on the door if not sold out. A limited number of reservation tickets are available from HMV (Douglas), Shakti Man (Ramsey) and Thompson Travel (Port Erin).
Other films coming up include Untouchable (cert 15) (with subtitles), the biggest selling French comedy ever, on 24 April. This films is based on a true story about a paraplegic aristocrat who finds true friendship through the employment of a young carer from the opposite end of the social spectrum. It is very funny and touching. On 08 May Sightseers (cert 15) is showing, a black comedy from British director Ben Wheatley. A dream caravan holiday for Chris and Tina goes horribly wrong! On 22 May Quartet (cert 12A) is screening, a British comedy starring Maggie Smith, Pauline Collins, Michael Gambon, Tom Courtenay and Billy Connolly. Finally, on 12 June, Les Miserables (cert 12A) - needs no explanation!
