IOM Adventure Race to be held in September this year

by isleofman.com 8th April 2013

Teams entering this year’s ‘Amateur’ and ‘Elite’ one day races have now extra time to train.

Entries are now open and includes free kayak training (if entries in by 31st May), Saturday evening BBQ and Race t-shirt as part of the package.

The Weekend, organised by Adventurous Experiences and sponsored by PWC is now confirmed as 21st and 22nd September. The decision to hold this challenging event at the end of the summer season, instead of the usual calendar spot in mid-June, is largely due to adverse weather delaying team training and the announcement of the Viking Longboat Races this year being held in mid-June. (The Adventurous Experiences team won the mixed category of the Longboat Championships two years ago, and are keen to enter again this year).

The Amateur adventure race held on Sunday 22nd September involves teams of four, each completing two of the five activities;  swim - kayak - bike - run - climb.
New for 2013 is the Elite adventure race, held on the Saturday, where teams of two complete all five activities;  kayak - bike - mystery challenge - run - assault course.
Supporting the event again this year are the IoMSPC, Mychreests and Green Mann Spring.
