Last year, the Manx Wildlife Trust was delighted to be chosen as one of the two charities selected by the Arg Beiyn Veterinary Practices on the Island to benefit from their fundraising activities. Thanks to the efforts of the team at Arg Beiyn, a total of ?1310.94 was raised for the nature conservation charity with a similar amount also being raised for the UK-based charity, Hounds for Heroes.
Fundraising got underway last April when the Arg Beiyn Veterinary Practice in Ramsey hosted a Fun Day. Hundreds of people took part in a range of activities both at the Practice and elsewhere in the town with the Manx Wildlife Trust’s marine touch-tanks proving especially popular with the younger visitors who got the chance to see and touch starfish, crabs and other local marine creatures. Following this, collection boxes for the two charities were installed in all of Arg Beiyn’s Practices and then during the summer veterinary surgeon, Edric Cross, undertook a gruelling sponsored walk along the full length of the Pyrenees.
Anne Marie Kilgallon, Manx Wildlife Trust’s Fundraising and Wildlife Advocacy Officer, said, “I would like to thank Edric and the team at Arg Beiyn for their tremendous support. We are very grateful for all of their fundraising efforts on our behalf. This year we’re celebrating our charity’s 40th anniversary and we can’t stress enough how important it is for us to be able to continue to protect Manx wildlife for the future. The events and activities organised by the Arg Beiyn Veterinary Practices not only raised valuable funds for us but also helped to spread awareness of our vital nature conservation work.”
