Hospice Care and other Island charities are facing bills from the Eastern Civic Amenity Site.
The joint committee in charge says it’s started charging good causes which drop off the remnants from house clearances.
Local authority members on the committee say it’s unfair for ratepayers from Douglas, Onchan, Braddan, Laxey, Lonan and Santon to bear the costs.
Tomorrow, the move will be discussed by Douglas Borough Council.
Charities have traditionally used the site free of charge to drop off leftovers from house clearances donated to them – whatever doesn’t go to a charity shop is left there.
But the site’s joint committee says in a four-week period Hospice and other organisations dropped off seven tonnes of waste.
Local authority members claimed the site was being used by charities to dump waste from across the Island funded by ratepayers.
They agreed unanimously to start making charities pay to drop off waste at the Middle River site.
