The ICM Group, based on Prospect Hill in Douglas, gives all staff two days each year to do voluntary work for a charity of their choice. One of the charities to benefit from staff time this year is Crossroads Care, a Douglas based charity providing practical and emotional support for carers living on the Isle of Man. Crossroads Care was first established on the Isle of Man in 1988 and celebrates its 25th birthday this year. The challenge that Crossroads sets for local businesses involves taking over one of their charity shops for the day and raising as much money as possible. A team of seven girls from the ICM group will take over the charity shop on Victoria Street for a day on Friday 19 April. Their aim is to raise as much money as possible and beat the total raised by the other teams. All money raised goes to the Crossroads Care charity.
The ICM team are calling themselves ‘The Spring Cleaners’ and are asking colleagues and friends to have a spring clear out at home and bring in quality items to be sold in the shop. Samantha Cropper, Marketing Assistant for the ICM group told us:
‘We have chosen Spring as our theme as everyone is willing the weather to get warmer now and of course this is the time of year when we all start to think about a new wardrobe and having a clear out at home. As well as managing the shop for the day we will also have a raffle with fantastic prizes such as vouchers donated by local businesses and a gorgeous bouquet of Spring flowers. We will be doing a street collection too with a giant bunny rabbit…so watch out for us!’
So far The Spring Cleaners have had kind donations from Domino Pizza, The Slug and Lettuce, Thorntons, Oopsy Daisy florist and Enfin. If anybody would like to donate a raffle prize or items to sell in the Crossroads shop on 19 April please contact Samantha Cropper or Jenny Oliver at
