Energy Awards - get your entry in!

by isleofman.com 9th April 2013

Entries have opened for the annual Energy Awards and organisations of all sizes in the Island are being encouraged to get their entries in!

The awards champion local firms and groups which come up with enterprising ideas to reduce fuel consumption.

This year's event includes the Junior Energy Awards, highlighting the efforts by young people to make their schools more energy efficient.

There are six awards in total: three for local businesses and three for Government organisations.

Laurence Skelly MHK, who has responsibility for energy at the Department of Economic Development, says the awards highlight the best energy saving initiatives up-and-running across the Island.

The Junior Energy Awards recognise school childrens' creative and innovative ideas to reduce waste, fuel bills and ultimately, the planet.

Last year's winner for Innovation in Business was ManTTX, recognised for leading the way since the start of the Zero-emissions TT, making and racing battery-powered motor bikes.

The 2013 Energy Awards are sponsored by HSBC and the winners will be announced an Energy Expo at the Royal Manx Agricultrual Show in August.

Companies wanting to submit an entry for the Energy Awards should visit the Department's website gov.im/ded/Energy/energyexpo.xml or telephone 682367.
