Youth group volunteers' summit later this month

A call is going out to all those who lead or volunteer at Island youth groups, to attend a special summit later this month.

A free training day at the Nunnery has been organised by the Department of Education's Youth Service for Saturday, April 20.

It's open to youth workers, sports coaches, teachers, Scout and Guide leaders and the army of volunteers who run scores of activity groups around the Island.

The conference has the title Closer Links and aims to forge ties between organisations, opening new doors for the youngsters in their care.

Principal officer at the Youth Service Ken Callister says inspirational leaders can have a very positive influence on young people:
