A League
Danni's Driving School (10) v easyGym (4)
Danni’s Driving School Beat “A” League Leaders
Easy Gym having only lost one match in the A league all season took on second placed Danni’s Driving School. Rob Boyles got Danni’s team off to a great start by beating Phil Shaw 3 -1, and Dougie Jacobsson sealed the win with a very close 3 – 0 over easyGym’s number two Dave O’Neill. The match between Kevin “flash” Watterson and Paul Barnett should have been a easy run out you would have thought, with Danni’s team already the victors but this was defiantly not the case. Flash shot out of the blocks to win the first only to see Barnett start the second and third games with some very powerful play. Watterson managed to find something from somewhere to get them both back to the wire, with Barnett taking them by just one point who a also took the last to produce easyGym’s only points of the night.
B League
Heading into the last few matches International Divers and Island Exhaust are neck and neck at the top the table. Bespoke Recruitment and Jewel Tech Academy are almost as close together but Academy have a game in hand, while Outcasts are somewhat adrift but again with a game in hand on the top three.
C League
(Bangers) Team New (17) v Racketeers Academy (4)
Jewel Tech Academy Tigers (20) v The Racketeers (4)
The last match of the season between Tigers and the Racketeers ended in an emphatic 20-4 win for the Tigers. To be fair the Racketeers were not at full strength, missing injured Ross Highet in particular.
The best match of the night was the first one between Aareez Khan (Tigers) and Olli Heinikoski. Khan took the first 15-14 despite a late comeback from Heinikoski and cruised the second. The powerful Finn then struck back to make it 2-2 before Khan shaded the fifth 15-13. Meanwhile Fraser Dorling was beating Andy Dalrymple 3-1. Dorling played some exquisite lobs in the first game, which V countered in the second through the cunning tactic of staying back, anticipating the lob. Dorling varied his game to take the third and fourth though. There were routine wins for Tigers Scott Jones and Oscar Hill against Ray Tang and Andrew Shephard. Hill showed good court movement as well as his customary power. The final game was another goodie with leftie Peter Naylor battling the experienced Derek Tootill. Peter took the first 2 games but decided thereafter to hit the ball back to Tootill (maybe it was Tootill reading the game well). So Tootill took the third and looked on his way to levelling the match until Naylor dug himself out of a hole with some excellent play. 3-1 to Naylor.
