New use for seaweed?

Scientists say they may have found a new use for the seaweed that washes up on Manx beaches.

Dr Chris Greenwell of Durham University is leading a team looking at generating biogas from seaweed.

His team is considering how technology could help the Island’s energy supplies, and whether we’d need to set up special farms to grow seaweed.

But he says there’s already a huge amount which could be put to good use:
