To mark its support of the 2013 Isle of Man Art Society Easter Exhibition, Barclays Wealth and Investment Management held a special preview reception for invited guests on the eve of the exhibition’s public opening just before Easter.
Barclays employees and guests attended the preview, held in the Villa Marina Arcade in Douglas, and welcomed the Lieutenant Governor His Excellency Mr Adam Wood to officially open the exhibition.
With more than 100 artists exhibiting over 400 pieces of work, with each piece being shown for the first time, the exhibition featured works from complete beginners to experienced professionals using a variety of different forms including oil, watercolour, pastel, ceramic, wood carvings, textiles and batik. Some of the local artists featured in the exhibition included Des Brookes, Peter Hepworth, Maureen Kennaugh and Bryony Harrison.
Director of Offshore and Local Markets at Barclays Wealth and Investment Management in the Isle of Man, Steve Clarke said: “Barclays was delighted to be involved with this popular exhibition for the second year in succession. Our guests thoroughly enjoyed the preview and I think quite a few pieces attracted ‘sold’ stickers.”
Isle of Man Art Society Chairman, Peter Hepworth commented: “We are very grateful to Barclays for the invaluable continuing support this year and are pleased that once again the exhibition was a success for so many artists from such a wide range of backgrounds and art forms.”
