Point of Ayre death: police identify man

by isleofman.com 18th April 2013

Police say a man whose body was found in a burning car more than a week ago was a 58 year old from Glen Mona.

Officers say although they’re still carrying out tests, preliminary identification has now been made.

David McLeman, an accountant, was found at the Ayres on Tuesday, April 9 inside a silver C-Class Mercedes.

He was born in Scotland and settled on the island with his wife and three children 17 years ago.

Police officers say nothing in their investigation so far suggests there are any suspicious circumstances and they are not looking for anyone in relation to Mr McLeman’s death.

They’re appealing for information as they try to uncover the facts of the case, and say Mr McLeman was last seen at home on 2pm on Tuesday last week.

They say they’d like to speak to anybody who saw him or his car that afternoon, and especially from anybody who was at the Point of Ayre between 7pm and 8pm on the evening he died.

If you have any information, you can contact police headquarters on 631212.
