Ramsey are safe

by isleofman.com 20th April 2013

Ramsey have secured their Second Division status.

A 33-24 bonus point victory at home to relegated Buxton confirmed their place in South Lancashire/Cheshire Division Two again next season.

They were in trouble at the break as they trailed 12-8 at Mooragh Park.

However, after a Fintan Cummins penalty and a Steve Cleator try kept them in touch, they ran away with the game after the break.

Further tries came from Cummins, Dan Bonwick, Davide Mazzone, Lance Wyllie and Ben Harding.

Vagabonds moved into third position with a solid 37-9 win over Oldershaw at Ballafletcher.

Vagas now travel to Marple next week looking to secure that spot.

Ryan Windell and Leigh Kennaugh bagged two tries apiece as Vagas ran in seven and picked up a bonus point too.

Tom Gascoyne, Akkie van den Berg and Ross Pulman scored Vagas’ other tries and Windell kicked one conversion.

With promotion already assured, Douglas dropped points away at Ormskirk going down 24-14.

They led 6-0 early on courtesy of two Scott Goodall penalties.

The home side though rallied and were 12-6 ahead at the interval.

A second half try from Mark McGee and another Goodall penalty gave Douglas some cause for optimism but they eventually succumbed to a strong home side.
