A Manx veteran of the World War Two D-Day landings is cherishing a new set of memories after one of the best birthdays ever.
Dozens of family and friends gathered at the British Legion in Douglas to salute former marine Norman Moss on his 90th birthday this week.
The highlight was the arrival of four Royal Marines in full uniform - two of them Manx - on leave from their base in Scotland.
The treat had been organised by Lance Corporal Martin Peters who last year brought 15 marines to the Island to lead the Armed Forces Day parade along the prom.
Norman told guests he'd never had a birthday like it - and the unexpected arrival of the marines was a wonderful surprise.
The old solider is a regular compere of sequence dance sessions at the Legion and is still living life to the full in his 91st year.
So - what is the secret of a long and happy life?
