Appleby will host its 2013 Spring Seminar, “Debating Europe - Opportunities & Challenges for the Isle of Man” with guest speaker Professor Joe Bannister, Chairman of the Malta Financial Services Authority on Tuesday 30 April at the Manx Museum.

Over 100 representatives from the Islands business sector are expected to gather for the event which comes at a topical time for the debate surrounding EU membership in light of the recent crisis in Cyprus.

During his tenure at MFSA, Mr Bannister has managed reforms that have put Malta’s financial services sector in a strong position to capitalise on the country’s EU entry and has been a key figure in negotiating and working with the EU, OECD, FATF, IMF and the key supervisory organisations. He also represents the Authority on the Committee of European Securities Regulators.
