Isle of Man Archery Club Report - 21st April

by isleofman.com 23rd April 2013

The poor weather conditions which have sabotaged this year’s outdoor season struck again on Sunday. The morning shoot was abandoned but a subsequent inspection at midday allowed the go ahead for the afternoon shoot. The handful of archers who turned out elected to shoot a Short Metric round consisting of 36 arrows at distances of 50m and 30m respectively making a total of 72 arrows overall.

The highest score of the day was recorded by the only female archer at the shoot, Sarah Rigby. There was a three way shootout between compound archers Billy Lightfoot and Dave and Colin Moore. Dave managed to keep all of his arrows on target and took the top spot with a personal best score of 632. Both Billy and Colin missed with one arrow and it was a close run thing for second place. Lightfoot recorded a personal best score but Colin Moore just edged him out to take second place.

Rhys Moore was the only recurve archer to complete the round and in so doing produced a new personal best score of 422, an improvement of 25 points. Newcomers Danny Conwin and Jack Tyrer also attempted the round but had to leave before  they could complete it. However they both gained valuable experience which will stand them in good stead for the rest of the season.
