Microgaming announces a three-year deal to sponsor the Isle of Man Marathon and Half Marathon; entries are open for the 2013 event.
Microgaming will work alongside event organisers Isle of Man Veteran Athletes' Club (IOMVAC), to deliver a successful race and cement the annual event as one of the UK’s most popular marathons. The first Microgaming Isle of Man Marathon and Half Marathon takes place on August 11th 2013. Runners taking part endure the Manx Northern Course in Ramsey, which measures 13.1 miles. Those competing in the half marathon complete one circuit whilst competitors running the marathon complete two circuits of the course.
The Isle of Man Marathon and Half Marathon began in 1977 and has established itself as one of the most picturesque courses on the marathon calendar. Last year’s entries totalled an impressive 417 athletes; 111 marathon runners and 306 half marathon runners, with over 50% of the field visiting from off-island.
Entries are currently open for the 2013 race; participants can register by completing an online entry form at www.marathon.iomvac.co.uk.
Colin Watterson, Chairman of Isle of Man Veteran Athletes’ Club, comments: “IOMVAC are delighted to have Microgaming on board as main sponsors for the Isle of Man Marathon and Half Marathon and we are looking forward to working with them as we look to continue to grow and improve the event in the years ahead.”
Roger Raatgever, CEO of Microgaming adds: “The Isle of Man Marathon and Half Marathon is a well-organised event which we are very pleased to be supporting. Attracting both local residents and off-island participants, the course shows off the beautiful scenery that the Isle of Man has to offer. We encourage local residents to register online to take part in this fantastic event; we expect this year’s Marathon to be better than ever.”
