Mountain railway ready for season

by isleofman.com 26th April 2013

The Snaefell Mountain Railway will open for the summer season next weekend.

The recent heavy snowfall and long freeze caused serious damage to overhead power lines and teams of engineers have worked since the thaw on a long list of repairs.

The Department of Community, Culture and Leisure says despite the challenging conditions, the line will start its 2013 service on 4 May, with half-hourly departures each morning from Laxey from 10.15 until 3.45pm.

A series of special events is planned at the summit restaurant over the summer including high teas, sunset dinners, sky-at-night events and a swinging sixties evening.
