Firefighters & Families raise over ?400 for Firefighters Charity

by isleofman.com 30th April 2013
Firefighters, Family, and Friends rallied round on Sunday for over four hours at a charity car wash in aid of the Firefighters Charity held at Port Erin Fire Station. There were all shapes and sizes of vehicles and none were turned away. Along with the washing of vehicles were coffees, tea, and a wide variety of locally made cakes and bakes, all served by the capable hands of Elaine Maddrell, and Julie Goldie. The cakes were made by local volunteers, Elaine Maddrell, Julie Goldie, Lisa Chorker, Emma Walker, Sarah & Alex McGuire, Margret Woolnough, and Kate Meechan, a very big thanks from everyone for their effort.

Also a big thanks to Leo, Tyla, and Molly, the little helpers on the day.

We would like to thank all those people who supported us on the day by having their vehicles cleaned and supporting such a worthwhile cause. The Firefighters Charity helped over 4500 Firefighters, Support Staff, and family members of both current and retired members back towards full fitness last year alone. Their assistance has proved to be invaluable over the years with many people from the island benefiting from the Charity.

The total raised on the day was ?408.38, of which ?77 was on the cake stall.
