Manx Radio has appointed a new Senior Business Development Executive to its sales team as it approaches its 50th anniversary.
Kelly Smith has joined the Isle of Man’s national broadcaster from Beckmann Visual Publishing in Ramsey, where she was Sales and Marketing Director, and brings years of international experience to her new role. As well as leading a sales team and managing the global distribution of Beckmann’s products, she was responsible for managing relationships with its key suppliers and industry journalists.
Prior to this, Kelly spent five years at Duke Marketing as International Sales Executive where she had responsibility for the global sales and promotion of its motorsport products and programmes, and with Mannin Media working with its magazine and publishing division.
In her new role, she will look after the strategic advertising, marketing and promotional requirements of Manx Radio’s Island-wide network of business clients.
Manx Radio proudly supports more local events and charities than any other Manx media outlet. It is the only radio station which can bring events to listeners through the power of live outside broadcasting, and has established its own charity, the Dream Catcher Appeal, to help support the work of other Manx charities.
Kelly, who is Manx born and attended St. Ninians High School, is a member of the Chartered Institute of Marketing. In her spare time she teaches yoga, is a qualified Reiki and Thai massage practitioner, and actively participates with the Manx Operatic Society, Manx Voices Choir and Isle of Man Teachers’ Choir. She has taught drama on the Island and in the USA, as well as toured with a theatre company in South Africa.
Commenting on her appointment, Kelly said: “I am joining Manx Radio at an incredibly exciting time as it approaches its 50th anniversary next year, and I cannot wait to embrace the challenges and opportunities this presents, as well as continue to support its valued clients in maximising their business awareness through the power of advertising and promotion. Working for the Island’s national broadcaster is a privilege and I am looking forward to the future.”
John Marsom, Business Director of Manx Radio, commented: “Kelly Smith is a hugely experienced sales and marketing professional and will be a real asset both to Manx Radio and to our clients. It is vital, and especially so given the current economic climate, that we offer tangible added value to our proposition and her vision and ideas mean we can continue to do that.”
