Captain Nigel Malpass has been elected chairman of Ramsey Town Commissioners for the fourth successive year.

His appointment was unanimously approved at the Commission’s AGM held on Wednesday May 1st.

Mrs Sylvia Beattie was re-elected deputy chairman.

Proposer Richard Radcliffe, lead member for finance, said Captain Malpass had served the town ‘with distinction’ and his comments were echoed by seconder Stephen Rand, deputy lead member for works and development.

Accepting the nomination Captain Malpass said he was delighted to serve as chairman for a fourth term and encouraged by the confidence shown in him by his fellow commissioners. He continued: ‘I believe this past year has been notable for the excellent way in which commissioners and officers have worked together for the benefit of Ramsey. I look forward to the continued success of the Commission working in partnership with local businesses and the people of this town to advance the excellent progress made in recent years.’
