Celebrity art commissioned for charity

Victim Support in the Island has unveiled a novel approach to fund-raising, designed to appeal to art collectors and celebrity-watchers!

The new venture 'Commissioned' will see the charity invite local celebrities to produce a signed piece of art to be sold on an auction website.

Water colours, pastels, pottery, sculpture - traditional or abstract - are all welcome!

The project was launched last night (Thursday) by Baroness Newlove of Warrington, who was appointed the UK's first Victims' Commissioner last year.

She donated a canvas which will go on display with other works of art later this year before the first auction.

Victim Support chairman David Craine is hoping to inspire creative instincts among local celebs:
