German Commissioners reject expenses increase

by isleofman.com 3rd May 2013

German commissioners have decided that they won't take any increase in allowances for attending meetings.

They've made the announcement in the wake of a suggestion that attendance allowances and travel expenses should increase from ?30 per meeting to ?78 per meeting.

The proposal was made by the Head of the Local Government Unit Steven Willoughby.

Ramsey, Malew and Onchan Commissioners have already turned down the suggested rise. Douglas Council supports the idea but says it operates differently from other local authorities with many day time meetings.

Far from taking an increase, John Kennaugh from German commissioners says no-one there can ever remember anyone taking an allowance.
