Inquest into death of construction worker opens

Coroner of Inquests John Needham will open a hearing into the death of a construction worker this morning (Fri)

Fifty-six-year-old Gareth Sowden of Douglas died during an incident at a Water and Sewerage Authority site on Balleira Road in Kirk Michael on May 1.

An investigation has been launched by the Health and Safety at Work Inspectorate.

Mr Needham will open the inquest at 9.15am at Douglas Courthouse.

This afternoon a further two inquests will be opened - that of 47-year-old Alexander William Benton of Douglas at 2.15pm, then 58-year-old Ramsey man David McLeman at 2.30pm.
