by isleofman.com 10th May 2013

An inquest has heard a Douglas man died after part of a shipping container blew over onto him.

Fifty-five-year-old Charles Gareth Sowden, of Castlemona Avenue, was working at the Water and Sewerage Authority site on Balleira Road in Kirk Michael on May 1 when the incident happened.

Mr Sowden was pulled out from underneath the panel but died at the scene from crush injuries, despite efforts to save him.

Coroner of Inquests John Needham adjourned the inquiry to a date to be fixed.
