A team of Manx fundraisers took part in one of the world’s toughest physical challenges to raise money for The Children's Centre. The ‘Tough Mudder’ event is an obstacle course race designed by British Special Forces that involves running more than 10 miles through mud, fire and water, scaling 12ft walls and crawling through water tunnels. The team - Ste Malone, Peter Roche, Paul Murphy, Yohann Bonjus, Luke Fisher, Daniel Mahoney, Tim Cox, Phil Ellis, Jay Boyd, and Andy Malone – completed the challenge in Cheshire which is one of a series of Tough Mudder events.
Nine members of the team raised ?2,287.80 for The Children’s Centre’s charitable projects which help families and children across the Island. Funds raised from Luke Fisher’s participation will help support the Crossroads Care Young Carers Project. Susie Cox, Community Fundraiser at The Children’s Centre said:
“We’re extremely grateful to the team for raising such a magnificent total. The Tough Mudder is a really difficult event and they did extremely well to complete the course. It required a lot of training and dedication, but all of their hard work has made a significant contribution to our charitable work.”
Ste Malone, speaking on behalf of the team, thanked Scarlett Corporate Services for providing their tee-shirts, and Erin Callister and Dan Bonett, both from Crossfit IOM, for their sponsorship and training advice.
