Union confirms TT bus strike

by isleofman.com 16th May 2013

Bus drivers will hold a strike lasting almost the entire length of the TT festival, it’s been revealed.

Union Unite says the industrial action will begin on May 25 and end on June 5.

The timing of the walkout will mean disruption on the Island’s roads when they’re at their busiest – and will also hit students sitting GCSEs and A-levels.

Regional industrial officer Eric Holmes says the stoppage is the only way to get the Department of Community, Culture and Leisure to listen to the union’s proposals.

It’s the latest round of action in a row over changes to terms and conditions which the DCCL says will save ?300,000 a year.
