One lucky TT fan was given a guided tour of the Mountain Course with Conor Cummins after winning a Manx Telecom competition. Pauline Guest from Onchan was driven around the course by the Milwaukee Yamaha rider in a car provided by Buchanan BMW. Pauline was one of dozens of fans who met Conor during a personal appearance at the Manx Telecom store in Strand Street on Saturday (May 11). During the event he signed autographs and had his photograph taken with fans of all ages. Pauline, who was joined by her friend Alison DeAngelis for the TT lap prize, commented:
“We had a wonderful trip with Conor around the TT course. He did a full lap commentary for us, pointing out the landmarks he looks for and the speeds he will be doing during the races.”
Manx Telecom is one of Conor’s personal sponsors and he will carry the company’s logo on his racing leathers this year. The Ramsey Rocket said:
“It’s always great to meet TT fans and I really enjoyed the day, and showing Pauline and Alison around the TT course. Events like this just add to the sense of anticipation and excitement as we count down the days to the TT. I can’t wait for it to start, and I know everyone who I met at the store feels the same!”
Conor, who holds the Mountain Course lap record from a standing start, is in confident mood ahead of this year’s event and believes that his Milwaukee Yamaha outfit will give him a great chance to fulfil his ambition of winning a TT. The shop event marked the start of a series of TT promotions from the Island’s leading telecoms provider. Road racing fans will be able to win a host of Manx Telecom prizes during practice week and race week, including a trip to the MotoGP in the Czech Republic on August 25.
