MEA Staff donate ?1,200 to 3 Manx charities

by isleofman.com 16th May 2013
MEA staff have once again raised ?1,200 this year for their annual donation to Manx charities.  Staff choices to benefit were Riding for the Disabled and Manx Farmers Benevolent Trust who both received ?400 each.  A third donation was made to Southern Befrienders following a promotion on Manx Electricity’s Facebook page which reached some 10,500 people and was actively shared for the chance of claiming the final ?400.

Isle of Man Riding for the Disabled was started in 1976 and provides riding for approximately 100 young people at Pennybridge riding stables in Kirk Michael and who rely entirely on donations.  Similarly, Southern Befrienders rely on donations and provide a befriending service for the elderly to alleviate such feelings of loneliness and social isolation.  Manx Benevolent Trust was chosen by the staff themselves after the devastation caused to the Manx farming community.

Staff were pleased to make a difference for all three charities and are now already saving for the 2014 donation.
