MHK brings Tynwald motion over Sefton bailout

by isleofman.com 17th May 2013

An MHK says she wants to ensure there can be no repeat of the government’s Sefton Group bailout.

South Douglas member Kate Beecroft will next week ask Tynwald to voice its disapproval after the Council of Ministers progressed the ?4.5 million deal without the need for Tynwald backing.

The rescue package includes a ?1.3 million loan, plus ?3.2 million to buy land in Douglas earmarked for development.

Mrs Beecroft is questioning whether it has been done legally.
