A singing competition with what is billed as the Islands Biggest Prize Fund has reached its climax with the 6 finalists confirmed for the Grand Final on Saturday 25th May.

Search for a Star 2013 has been running over the last 6 weeks and has seen an initial 15 contestants fight it out over a series of heats to stake their place in the final.  The competition, which celebrates its 5th year of raising money for local good causes, is this year boasting a prize fund of ?2000, with ?1000 going to the winner as well as the opportunity to record their own CD.  This year the competition is once again supporting Age Isle of Man.

George Campbell one of the organisers since its inception and from main sponsor The Crescent said “The talent this year is absolutely fantastic.  The final 6 have worked extremely hard and thoroughly deserve their place in the final.  The event is set to be an amazing evening amazing and would encourage those who haven’t got tickets to do soon.”

Carole Male from Age Isle of Man added “Search for a Star is one of our biggest fundraising events at Age Isle of Man and is terrific fun.  Of course it would be possible without the financial support of The Crescent and Pokerstars as well assistance from DAM productions, Shoprite and 3FM.  We are also extremely grateful to Barclays Bank who have pledged to matched all funds raised ?1 for ?1.

As well as the 6 Finalists, 3 of those knocked out in earlier rounds have taken on the challenge of raising funds for Age Isle of Man, with the person raising the most winning a Wild Card into the final.
