Another ballot possible on TT bus strike

by isleofman.com 23rd May 2013

There could be another ballot on the bus strike planned for the TT period.

Yesterday (Wed) the Department of Community, Culture and Leisure released a statement claiming an offer they had made to the drivers had not yet been accepted and the strike would be going ahead.

However, head of the union Unite on the Island, Eric Holmes, says whilst he believes the Department has set what he calls a "fait accomplit", the ballot hasn't actually been counted yet as it has been challenged as being possibly corrupt.

Mr Holmes says he's now asked for an extension on re-balloting up until noon on Friday. He adds that his recommendation on the paper was to accept the deal as it was and he now wants a fresh ballot for the drivers on the same proposal.
