Police enquiries are continuing into the death of 18 years old Tanya Jade Dentith who was found in her car, on the evening of Saturday 18th May 2013, on rural land near to the motocross track at Ballagarraghyn, Jurby. Tanya is described by her family as having been a well liked girl who was always smiling. She was a keen motocross enthusiast, known locally within the motocross fraternity as “Baby T”, and also someone who had the distinction of being the club champion last year.
Detective Sergeant Neil Craig who is leading the enquiry said:
“Our enquiries into the circumstances surrounding Tanya’s death, which is not being treated as suspicious, are still very much ongoing on behalf of the Coroner and so far we have spoken to several people as part of this investigation.
I am however still in the process of trying to establish Tanya’s exact movements between 9.15pm on Friday 17th May, which was the time when she was last seen in the Prospect Terrace area of Douglas, and that of 6.30pm the following evening when she was discovered at Ballagarraghyn. As such, I would like to take this opportunity in appealing to anyone who may remember having seen Tanya, who was wearing an orange hooded top, blue skinny style jeans and orange shoes with white laces, or her vehicle, a light blue Peugeot 206 registration number JMN-590-M, between these times to please get in touch with me at Douglas Police Headquarters on 631212.
I am also aware that there has been a degree of local speculation as to the circumstances surrounding Tanya’s death. I can dispell such speculation as being incorrect and in turn would request that consideration be given as to the impact that such comments may have on Tanya’s friends and family at this very difficult time.”
