Police reminder of road safety messages

by isleofman.com 28th May 2013
Police are reinforcing some key road safety messages as the TT festival warms up, and more and more road users arrive.

Inspector Derek Flint said “ The first reminder we need to issue is that the Mountain Road is One Way. Unbelievably, we have had a couple of vehicles enter the one way system against the traffic at the Creg Ny Baa. Fortunately this was without incident, but people need to make sure they aren’t turning onto the one way system at any of the entry points.

The other key message is “Mirrors, Mirrors, Mirrors!” Bikes and cars can arrive behind you in seconds, and making sure you are positioned properly, and only commencing manoeuvres when you are absolutely sure it is clear behind, makes a real difference.

Above all, adhering to those key messages to respect our roads and know your limits, are the best bits of advice available to keep you and others safe.
