Last week was very busy for for the Peel RNLI Ladies Guild as the branch celebrated the 21st birthday of the Peel RNLI lifeboat "Ruby Clery".
The week started with a quiz held at The Highwayman pub last Sunday (19th May) with a good crowd attending. The quiz was won by "Them and Us".
From Monday there was an art exhibition held at Peel Cathedral where a percentage of any sales donated to the RNLI. Artists included Paul Parker, Roland Noble, Gary Bennett, Rosie Wood, Vicki Harrop, and Rosi and Peter Robinson.
Saturday night saw the birthday party with a dinner and cabaret night at Peel Masonic Hall with crew, friends and volunteers letting their hair down and although this was not intended to be a fundraiser the finally tally after an auction raised about ?1450. This was mainly due to kind sponsors who paid for Gary T Davies the cabaret act and help from Heron and Brearley brewery, Christine and David Moughtin, Paul Quayle, Roland Noble, Andy Parker and Charles Alexander Ltd.
Sunday afternoon was the concluding event which was an afternoon tea and a blessing of the "Ruby Clery" and the crew carried out by Father O'Mahoney and the Lord Bishop who performed a moving short service before blessing the boat in a novel way with a bucket of sea water.
The Peel branch of the RNLI would like to thank everyone who helped in making the week's celebrations such a success.
