An update on works to Peel Road, Douglas

by isleofman.com 30th May 2013

The Department of Infrstaructure have released the following statement:

The project has progressed well so far, with junction improvements and strengthening of Pulrose Road bridge completed.

The main part of the works, to Peel Road itself, is now underway and continues for the rest of Practice Week, but will be suspended during Race Week, with two-way access maintained along Peel Road throughout the TT.

Of course, during ‘roads closed’ periods, access from Quarterbridge will be suspended as normal, with two-way access maintained at the Douglas town centre end.

We’d also like to advise that shops and businesses on Peel Road and in the Pulrose estate remain open as usual throughout TT, and indeed for the duration of the Peel Road works.

With regard to the main traffic lights at the Pulrose Road/Peel Road junction – these have been removed and replaced with a STOP sign. This was done to improve the flow of traffic along Peel Road, which appears to have been successful so far. The lights that remain there are for the pedestrian crossing point only.

Where practical, motorists should use alternative routes.
