Search for a Star 2013 has not only discovered a wealth of singing talent but also helped raise almost ?7000 for Age Isle of Man.
Finalists, judges, sponsors and supporters of the competition, invited to a reception at the town hall, heard Douglas Mayor Councillor Carol Malarkey congratulate the singers on their performances and praise all those involved in the contest for providing a showcase for Manx talent.
The Mayor had served on the judging panel for the grand finale on Saturday May 25th when Joey Wylde was voted overall winner and Filipe Santos, Mr Enigma and Sam Leneghan took second, third and fourth places respectively.
Sponsored by The Crescent and Pokerstars and supported by 3FM, Barclays, Dam Productions and Shoprite the contest raised ?4727.92 which, with matched funding of ?2250 from Barclays, resulted in ?6977.92 being donated to Age Isle of Man.
The reception provided the opportunity for winner Joey Wylde to announce he had invited all five other finalists to join him in recording a trial single, proceeds from which will be donated to charity.
