Douglas RNLI lifeboat volunteer crew members were called out on Friday evening (31 May) at 6.22pm to go to the aid of a small vessel reported with possible engine problems.
The RNLI all-weather lifeboat Sir William Hillary was launched under the command of volunteer coxswain Neal Corran to go to the aid of the yacht after reports were received of them have problems with their engine
The casualty vessel with two people on board and which had been on route for Douglas from Widnes was located approximately 2 miles east of Douglas, making way under its own power. Having ascertained that no immediate assistance was required, Douglas lifeboat escorted the vessel into Douglas harbour and stood by until it was securely berthed at the visitor’s pontoon at the Battery Pier.
