Manx Museum: Open Sunday 9th June 2013

by isleofman.com 5th June 2013

The Manx Museum will be open this Sunday 9th June 2013.

The special Sunday opening will be the last chance for visitors to see Manx National Heritage’s TT display for 2013, which features a great range of motorcycles and leathers from the 1930s to today.

Alan Kinvig, Museums and Sites Manager for Manx National Heritage said:

“The TT display, Superbikes Playstation Game and TT film showings are a popular attraction for visitors and we would encourage everyone to take one last chance to see them at the Manx Museum before the exhibition ends this Sunday.  Bikes on display range from a 1937 Norton 350cc to the 1000cc  Makadoo Kawazaki Ninja ridden to third place by Conor Cummins in the 2010 Superstock TT.  The Gemini Honda RS250 ridden by Joey Dunlop OBE in the 1998 Junior TT practice can also be seen alongside leathers worn by Mike Hailwood MBE at the 1979 TT, his farewell appearance at the Isle of Man TT. There will also be one last chance to see a Director’s cut version of Honda TT Legends in the museum film theatre throughout the day, except at 11am and 2pm when Al Jazeera’s ‘A Dangerous Addiction’ will be on show”.

The museum galleries will be fully open to visitors from 10am to 5pm throughout the day, although the museum library will remain closed.

Manx seafood delights including Queenies, Niarbyl Bay Crab and Manx Kippers will be available on the menu in the museum cafe and the museum’s gallery shop will be open with gifts handmade on the Isle of Man available to take home.

Admission to the Manx Museum is free of charge, although the charity film showings cost ?5, with all proceeds to the Joey Dunlop Foundation, Rob Vine Fund and the Manx Museum and National Trust.
