Sprint Day “shout” for Ramsey Lifeboat

by isleofman.com 5th June 2013

Ramsey’s Mersey class RNLI lifeboat, the RNLB Ann and James Ritchie, was launched at 17:50 yesterday, Tuesday 4th June, to go to the assistance of a small vessel in 6 miles east of Ramsey Bay.

The sailing vessel, with three people on board, was on passage from Whitehaven to Ramsey. Yesterdays fine weather with little breeze meant that the small vessel, around 6 metres, had become becalmed and making little headway. It had also run out of fuel for its engine.

Ramsey lifeboat arrived on scene by 18:15 and took the vessel safely into tow to Ramsey Harbour, arriving at around 19:30. Ramsey Lifeboat then returned to Station.
