Pitch in for fun at charity rounders comp

by isleofman.com 6th June 2013

A charity rounders tournament is being organised to raise funds for The Children’s Centre. Teams are being urged to sign up as soon as possible for the event at Vagabonds Rugby Club, Ballafletcher Road, Braddan, on Thursday July 11 at 6pm. Deadline for entries is July 5th. The winners will have the honour of being crowned Rounders Champions but, says Susie Cox, Fundraising Co-ordinator at The Children’s Centre, the emphasis will be on friendly competition and having fun. She added:

“Rounders is a great game that anyone can play and we want the tournament to kickstart our summer of fundraising events. We’re looking for teams of nine, and the price will be ?10 per head and ?5 for children under 15. It’s open to everyone from corporate teams looking for a social get together while raising funds for a good cause, to teams of families and friends just wanting to have a fun night out. The Pavilion in Port St Mary will be providing catering for the event with a barbecue, and the Vagabond’s Rugby Club bar will be open throughout. We must say a big thank you to everyone who has helped to stage the tournament, especially the sponsors Paragon Recruitment.”

As well as the teams taking part, supporters and friends are welcome to come along and watch the action and cheer on all the competitors. All funds will go to support The Children’s Centre’s charity projects which help families and children across the Island. Entry forms can be found at www.thechildrenscentre.org.im or by emailing susiecox@thechildrenscentre.org.im – or you can call Susie on 676076 for more details.
