Vehicle fires appeal renewed by police one year on

by isleofman.com 6th June 2013

Police have renewed an appeal for information about an incident which happened a year ago.

On June 6 2012 two stolen cars were set alight at around 1.15am on Port St Mary golf course.

One of the vehicles, a green Peugeot 306 was found burnt out below Perwick Bay estate after it had rolled off the edge of the cliffs.

The second vehicle, thought to be a red Citroen Saxo, was found in flames around 200 metres down the course from Perwick Bay.

Police believe the two fires were linked, but a search at the time failed to discover the drivers of the vehicles.

A year on, officers hope someone's memory may be jogged, particularly if they are a visitor to the Island back here for the TT.

They're asking for anyone who might remember seeing anything suspicious at the time, perhaps had met someone whose clothes which smelt of smoke or had unexplained burn injuries, to get in touch.

If you can help ring police headquarters on 631212 or Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
