Berthing open to individual tenders

A company hoping to set up a service to rival the Steam Packet will be able to press ahead with its plans as long as it meets legislative requirements.

So says the Island’s director of harbours after bosses at the Ellan Vannin Line unveiled proposals to have a service up and running in time for next year’s TT.

It’s again sparked debate about whether the market is big enough to sustain two rival services to and from the Island.

Mike Brew says anyone is welcome to berth in Douglas Harbour if their ships meet harbour regulations:
