The Horse and Plough has reopened with a new look and new menus to match.
Heron and Brearley’s retail director Steven Taylor said: ‘This refurbishment sees the Horse and Plough strengthen its place at the heart of the local community. It’s now very much somewhere for the whole community to enjoy a good quality affordable meal out, but it’s also a place where you can take a quick break at lunchtime or meet up for an after-work drink or dinner.
‘The Horse and Plough, like many of our pubs, plays a huge role in building strong communities. This is a huge responsibility for us and one that I feel is reflected in the new-look Horse and Plough.’
Matching the new-look interior is a new regularly changing menu supplemented by daily specials. As eclectic as the decor, food choices range from an inspired selection of sandwiches through to quick lunch dishes and British, Mediterranean and Asian-influenced main courses. Fine ales by Okell’s are complemented by a carefully chosen wine list offering New and Old World options.
Central to the new look is the transformation of the conservatory into a light-filled dining space that brings a touch of beach house-chic to Braddan, where cool neutral tones are offset by creative flourishes including over-sized Post-It notes and an homage to that staple of British cooking, OXO, as artwork, while shelves in one corner display Manx products - from preserves to flour - as decorative items.
From the conservatory doors open onto a spacious new terrace perfect for dining al fresco and there’s also a new children’s play area, while back inside the refurbished bar has been opened up to create a choice of seating areas and space for live performances.
Mr Taylor continued: ‘Our refurbishment programme is shaped by listening and responding to what our customers are saying. And the overriding message is that although budgets may be under pressure customers still want to go out, but they’re looking for consistently good-value customer experiences. The Horse and Plough reflects this sentiment well.’
